A red apple sits on top of a stack of four books on a wooden table. To the right side, there are four alphabet blocks stacked vertically with the letters A, B, and C in red, orange, yellow, and green, respectively. Four colored pencils are scattered on the table near the blocks.

Advocating and Educating to Improve Outcomes for Unique Students

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: to advocate and educate to improve outcomes for unique students.

  • Advocating: We advocate for students' and families' rights to receive the services and support their students need. This ensures they receive educational benefits that fit their unique situation. We also advocate for the correct placement in the least restrictive environment, so every student receives a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) based on their individual needs.

  • Educating: We teach parents and students about their rights, Special Education timelines, Child Find, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act,‍ ‍how to request evaluations and services, and where to find education laws (and explain them clearly). We help explain test scores using the bell curve, assist with organizing important school papers, attend 504/IEP meetings, help file complaints at the local, state, and federal levels, and prepare families for mediation or Due Process hearings. Our Facebook page is a great resource for all things Special Education: https://www.facebook.com/bdpqDyslexiaSupport/.

  • Improving Outcomes: We work to mediate between parents and schools to make sure students are correctly identified for Special Education. We ensure 504/IEPs are written to truly support students based on their individual needs and that IEP goals are based on accurate data to show current academic and functional progress. We also help with writing goals and tracking progress for IEPs.

We Work With Unique Individuals

We work with unique students who have a medical or school-identified eligibility, as well as those who haven't been identified yet. Eligibilities we work with include: Autism, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, ADHD, Other Health Impairments, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Developmental Delays, Emotional Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairments, Multiple Disabilities, Speech/Language Impairments, and Vision/Hearing Impairments.

We work with the following age groups:

  1. Early Childhood (birth to 3 three years old): We assist families in obtaining Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) and help develop and monitor Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP).

  2. Elementary/high school: We help transition students from Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) into Kindergarten through high school by assisting families in obtaining a Section 504 or Individual Education Plan (IEP).

  3. Transition from HS: By attending IEP meetings, we assist with a smooth transition from high school into employment, independent living, secondary education or trade schools.

No parent/guardian should walk through Special Education without someone by their side who understands how they feel. We can meet virtually or in person. We offer a free, in-depth hour consultation to determine what your student needs and develop the best path forward for your student.

We look forward to advocating for you and your unique student to support their academic success.
